STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 1902, page 1, column 6 FREDERICK VANDERCOOK, 15 Jun 1819 - 07 Mar 1902 Frederick Vandercook was born in Rensselaer county, New York, June 15, 1819, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. B. McConnell, in Fremont, Ohio, March 7, 1902. He located at Fremont in 1850, where he resided until his death, with the exception of twenty years he lived in Angola. Jan. 23, 1856, he was joined in marriage with Emeline McPherson, sister of Gen. John B. McPherson. The union was blessed with three children, all of whom are living, Emma, the wife of Judge W. B. McConnell; Eula, wife of Emmet S. Croxton, and Frederick R. Vandercook, Jr. The wife died April 7, 1884. Mr. Vandercook was a man of good business ability and accumulated a large amount of property located in Ohio, Indiana and other states. He has been identified with banks in Fremont, Norwalk and other places, and was, for a time, president of the First National Bank, of Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. McConnell, conducted by Rev. Fairlie, of St. Paul's Episcopal church. Burial at McPherson cemetery, Clyde, Ohio. Frederick was the son of Henry Vandercook and Margery (Lester) Vanderdook. Emeline was the daughter of William H. McPherson and Cynthia (Russell) McPherson. CHILDREN: Frederick R. Vandercook Jr., 1860 - 16 Nov 1931, buried at Clyde, Sandusky County, Ohio. Emma (Vandercook) McConnell, 25 Jun 1857 - 02 Jul 1935, on 25 Nov 1879, married Judge William B. McConnell. Eula V. (Vandercook) Croxton, 19 Oct 1862 - 20 Aug 1919, on 12 Nov 1885, became the 1st wife of Emmet S. Croxton, 31 Dec 1862 - 10 Apr 1938, son of Hiram and Martha (Thompson) Croxton. Emmet's 2nd wife was Ruth E. (Kimsey) Croxton, 09 Oct 1881 - 05 Jul 1960. Emmet and both wives are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
