STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 1903, page 8, columns 4, 5 MARIA THERESIA (WAY) BENNETT VAUGHN, 06 Dec 1828 - 27 Feb 1903 Maria Theresia was born in New York in 1828. At the age of six years, she moved to Senaca county, O., with her parents and there grew to womanhood. She was married to Abraham Bennett, June 10, 1846, in Scipio township, Senaca county, Ohio. To this union were born five children, Josiah, George, Elizabeth, Eva and Asa; Eva died in infancy. Mrs. B. and husband came to this county in 1851. Mr. Bennett died Jan. 17, 1863, at Galveston, Tenn. Mrs. Bennett was married to Walter Vaughn, July 16, 1865, and joined the Methodist church in 1868. She died Feb. 27, 1903, aged 74 years, 2 months and 21 days. Surviving her are a husband, four children, one sister, two brothers and a number of grandchildren. She also raised two other children besides her own, which have now grown to womanhood. She leaves a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral at North Otsego, Sunday, conducted, by Rev. J. D. Coverstone. Maria is buried at North Otsego Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana, buried with her 2nd husband, Walter Vaughn, 25 Oct 18__ - 10 May 1914. CHILDREN OF 1st MARRIAGE: Josiah Oscar Bennett, 13 Feb 1847 - 02 Sep 1921, married 1st, on 03 Jul 1866, Eleanor P. (Johnson) Bennett, 22 Oct 1847 - 22 Oct 1882. Josiah married 2nd, on 14 Feb 1886, Harriett Crandall Kibbie Bennett, 03 Feb 1840 - 24 Oct 1920. They are buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. George Bennett, 20 Sep 1847 - 09 Aug 1915, married Jane Ann (Beard) Bennett, 24 Aug 1851 - 02 Jul 1925. George is buried a Pleasant Lake Cemetery. Jane's burial place not known. Elizabeth (Bennett) Smith, 04 (24 in History) Jul 1852 - 1912, on 02 Jul 1871, married Lewis Cass Smith, 06 Sep 1847 - 1928. They are buried at North Otsego Cemetery. Eva A.
