STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 1902, page 4, column 4 VIOLA (HULBERT) VAUGHN, 08 Nov 1841 - 16 May 1902 Viola Hulbert Hughes was born in York township, Steuben county, Ind., Nov. 8, 1841, and died May 16, 1902. She lived at her birthplace until she grew to womanhood and was married Feb. 15, 1859, to Frederick Vaughn. Six years later they moved to Southeast Quincy, Mich., and resided in that vicinity ever since. To them were born two sons and one daughter, one son dying in infancy. Those living are Charles Vaughn, of Iowa, and Mrs. Mina Rumfelt, of Allen, who, together with her husband, five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Adelaid Gale, who lives at Stanton, Mich., are left to mourn their loss. The funeral was held at the new Grange hall, of which order she was a member, Sunday, May 18, Rev. B. F. Silverthorne officiating, and her remains were laid to rest in the beautiful little cemetery close by.
