SIMPSON WATKINS, 15 Aug 1813 - 23 Dec 1901

   Simpson Watkins was born in Onondaga county, New York, Aug. 15, 
1813.  Was united in marriage to Adelia Thompson, March 15, 1837.
   To this union were born nine children of whom two survive him, 
James B. and Homer.
   On Jan 10, 1870, he was again united in marriage to Laura T. 
Peters.  To this union was born one child.
   In 1840 he came to Steuben county, Ind., where he resided until 
the fall of 1881 when he removed to Van Buren county, Mich., 
returning to Steuben county in the summer of 1900, living with his 
sons until his death which occurred Dec. 23, 1901, aged 88 years, 4 
months and 8 days.  Funeral was held at the home of his son, Homer 
Watkins, at the hour of 10:00 a.m., Dec. 25, conducted by the Rev. 
N. Paul Barton of the Hamilton M. E. Church.

   Simpson Watkins Jr., 15 Aug 1813 - 23 Dec 1901, married 1st Adelia 
(Thompson) Watkins, 1815 - 1868, daughter of James(?) and Mehetable 
Thompson.  They are buried at Bethel Cemetery, Steuben County, 
Indiana.  He married 2nd, Laura T. (Peters) Watkins, no dates or 
place of burial listed in cemetery book.

CHILDREN OF 1st MARRIAGE:

   Oliver T. Watkins, 10 Nov 1844 - 09 Jul 1845, aged 7 months and 
29 days, buried at Bethel Cemetery. 
   Lucretia Watkins, 20 Sep 1846 - 20 Sep 1846, aged 6 hours, buried 
at Bethel Cemetery.
   Alanson Watkins, 17 Nov 1847 - 07 Aug 1848, aged 8 months and 20 
days, buried at Bethel Cemetery.
   James B. Watkins, 1853 - 1919, on 27 Jul 1877, married Margretta 
(Cruson) Watkins, 1858 - 1933, buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, 
Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Willard Watkins, 26 Jan 1854 - 01 Nov 1856, aged 2 years, 9 
months and 5 days, buried at Bethel Cemetery.
   Homer Watkins, 1855 - 1950, on 28 Aug 1880, married Emily 
(Haughey) Watkins, 03 May 1861 - 07 Jul 1949, buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery.

No information on child from 2nd marriage.

Watkins was postmaster at Alvarado, 30 Nov 1868 - 25 Jan 1869.
