STUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, February 15, 1899, pg. 1, col. 6 JONATHAN P. WEHRLEY, 20 Aug 1826 - 26 Jan 1899 The subject of the above sketch was born in York county, Pennsylvania, August 20, 1826, and died at his home near Flint, Steuben county, Indiana, January 26, 1899, aged 72 years, 5 months and 9 days. In 1833 his parents drove through the woods to Preble county, Ohio, when on Dec. 27, 1849, he married Susan McFadden. To this union were born eight children, four girls and four boys, five of whom survive him. The wife and mother departed this life March 14, 1898. In 1854, Mr. Wehrley bought a farm in the woods of Wells county, Indiana. They both united with the German Baptist Brethern (Dunker) church the same year, and thirteen years later Mr. Wehrley was elected to the ministry and continued to work on the farm and preach until about seven years ago when his health failed. In 1864 they settled in Steuben county on the farm where he died. He did what he could to make the world better, and the memory of his consecrated life will be sacred to many. Funeral srvices were held at the Springfield church, Rev. Peter Long officiating, assisted by Rev. Noah Shutt.
