WEICHT PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME IN ANGOLA LAST THURSDAY One of the Best Known Citizens of This Section of the County --Funeral Sunday The death of Henry B. Weicht at his home in Angola Last Thursday removed one of the best known citizens of the community. He was known for his genial disposition and his stand for good citizenship, and in his contact with a great many people in the practice of his profession he probably became acquainted with as many persons as any man in the county. He had been in failing health for a year past. The large gathering at the funeral last Sunday attested to the general respect with which he was regarded in the community. Henry B., son of Leopold and Catherine Weicht, was born in Berea, Ohio, Sept. 3, 1854. When a small child his parents moved to Steuben county which was the early home of the father. Leopold Weicht was a cabinet maker in Angola and later bought out an undertaking business. Henry assisted his father in this business until the father died after which he conducted it alone. In later years his son Paul has been associated with Mr. Weicht. In Henry Weicht was one of the best known men in the county. It is estimated that he had buried not less than five thousand in this and adjoining counties during the years he was engaged in the undertaking business. He will be greatly missed by his many friends in Angola and surrounding country. He was a friendly man and was especially fond of children. Many a little girl has been made happy, by being presented with a doll cradle which he had made with his own hands. He was thoughtful of the comfort of others, especially of the aged or infirmed. He was very tender in the home where he was called to care for the dead. He was married to Leona Tyler in June 1877. She died in November, 1882. To this union one son was born. He was later married to Clara McClue who died in 1894. To this union one daughter was born. In June 1895, he was married to Mary Beil who survives. Mr. Weicht had enjoyed good health all his life until about a year ago. Every thing that medical skill could do was done for him but there seemed to be no permanent help. On Wednesday he became worse and on Thursday, Nov. 9th, at 11 o'clock, he passed away. He leaves to mourn their loss, his widow, one son, Paul, of Angola, one daughter, Mrs. John A. Bickel, of Massilon, Ohio, two grand sons, Joseph H. Weicht and Henry A. Bickel. He leaves one brother, Samuel, of Marion, Ind., and three sisters, Mrs. Chas. Bachelor, of Ft. Wayne, Mrs. Otis Willett, of Bryan, Ohio, and Mrs. Joseph Zipfel, of Angola. The funeral service was held at the home on Sunday afternoon, Elder G. B. Townsend officiating.
