LEOPOLD EDWARD WEICHT, 06 Aug 1830 - 07 Feb 1896

   DIED at his home in Angola, Indiana, Feb. 7, 1896, Leopold E. 
Weicht, aged 65 years, six months and one day.
   Deceased was born at Emmendingen, Grand Duchy of Baden, Germany, 
and came with his parents to America in September, 1832, and in 
1834 came to Ohio.  In 1843, he came to Salem township, this 
county, and after a time returned to Cleveland, Ohio, where on 
August 10, 1852, he was joined in marriage with Miss Catherine 
Schaab.  In 1854 they removed to Angola where they have since 
resided.  To this union were born seven children, two dying in 
infancy, the others, Henry B., Mrs. Josephine Zipfel, Samuel J., 
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Bachelor, of Angola, and Mrs. Katie R. Willett, 
of Montpelier, Ohio, together with their mother, survive to mourn 
their great loss.
   Mr. Weicht was a man who prided himself on being strictly honest 
with his fellow men, and was a kind neighbor.  His bereaved 
children will ever remember him as one who took great delight in 
their childish sports, and as they grew to manhood and womanhood 
his love and interest for their welfare did not lessen, and the 
wife fully realizes that she has lost a good and kind husband.
   Mr. Weicht was one of the first accessions to Angola Lodge, I. 
O. O. F. upon its organization in 1857, and ever since he has been 
faithful and devoted to the principles of the order.  Funeral 
services were held at the M. E. church on Sunday afternoon under 
the auspices of the order, Elder Ervin officiating.

Cuyahoga, Ohio, married Catharine/Catherine (Schaab) Weicht, 
13 Aug 1832 - 25 Dec 1896.  They are buried at Circle Hill
Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.  Leopold was the son of
Dr. Lewis Frederick/Frederick Lewis Weicht who died 31 May 1857, 
and Fredericka (Eckhart) Weicht who died 01 Apr 1857.  The parents
are buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.

CHILDREN:

   Henry B. Weicht, 03 Sep 1854 - 09 Nov 1922, on 04 Jan 1877, 
married 1st Leona (Tyler) Weicht who died in Nov 1882.  She was the 
daughter of Simeon and Sarah M. Tyler.  She is also listed on the
Tyler monument.  On 25 Dec 1883, Henry married 2nd, Clara J.
(McClue) Weicht, 15 Jul 1860 - 14 Jul 1894.  She is buried in the
same lot with Henry and Leona at Circle Hill Cemetery.  On 03 Jun
1895, he married his third wife, Mary J. (Beil) Weicht, 1870 -
1948.  She is buried in the Beil Lot at Circle Hill Cemetery.
   Josephine (Weicht) Zipfel, 1855 - 1939, on 29 Dec 1874, married
Joseph Zipfel, 1847 - 1923.  They are buried at Circle Hill
Cemetery.
   Samuel J. Weicht, 10 Apr 1858 - 16 Jun 1936, on 07 Jun 1879,
married Clara (Stocker) Weicht, 10 May 1859 - 1939, daughter of 
Leland W. and Lucy (Mallory) Stocker.  Samuwl is buried in Nobel
County, Indiana; Clara is buried in Wayne County, Indiana.
   Franklin Weicht, died 12 Aug 1861, age 1 year and 3 days, 
buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Elizabeth Segma (Weicht) Bachelor, born in 1862, on 29 Jan 1887,
married Charles A. Bachelor.  Their burial place unknown.
   Katie Rose (Weicht) Willett, born in 1865, on 29 Oct 1884,
married W. Otis Willett.  Their burial place unknown.

       Infant, Note:  Cemetery records show an infant burial on 
the lot of Leopold E. and Catharine Schaab Weicht in 1861.  No 
marker.  (This is probably Franklin Weicht)

   Frederika/Frederica S. (Weicht) Freygang, 1818 -04 Mar 1891,
married Charles Julius Freygang, about 1803 - 07 Aug 1868.  They
are buried at old Angola Cemetery.  On 20 Oct 1869, she married 
James Barr, 01 Nov 1793 - 16 Apr 1881.  He is buried at Old Angola
Cemetery.  His 1st wife was Elizabeth Thompson.
   Dr. Frederick Lewis H. Weicht, about 1819 - 21 Jan 1864, in 1846
married Susan (McEntaffer) Weicht, 01 Jun 1827 - 02 Apr 1902.  They
are buried at Old Angola Cemetery.  On 01 Feb 1866, she married
Joel M. Dole, 09 No 1825 - 09 Mar 1878.  He is buried at Hollister
Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  On 26/29 Jun 1890, she married
John St.Clair who died 09 Mar 1898.  His burial place unknown.
   Louisa Weicht, about 18 Jun 1820 - 11 Oct 1897, was the spinster 
daugher of Lewis Frederick/Frederick Lewis Weicht who died 31 May
1857 and Fredericka (Eckhart) Weicht who died 01 Apr 1857.  They
are buried at the Old Angola Cemetery.
   Dr. William Charles Weicht, 15 Apr 1822 - 04 Nov 1889, married
Elizabeth N. (Neubauer) Weicht, 22 Sep 1823 - 04 Nov 1894.  They
are buried at Old Angola Cemetery.
   Charles A. Weicht, about 1823 - 13 Feb 1874, buried at Old
Angola Cemetery.

   The Weicht Family have been funeral directors for over 75 
years.  Leopold Edward Weicht inaugurated the business.
        Henry B. Weicht, 03 Sep 1854 - 09 Nov 1922.  (He also
made caskets.
        Paul J. Weicht, 1880 - 1962, son of Henry and his 1st wife.
        Joseph H. Weicht, 15 Jun 1905 - Mar 1956.
        Paul Eugene Weicht is continuing the business.  Some of the
6th generation are now engaged with him in the operation of the  
Funeral Home.
