WEICHT, 10 Apr 1858 - 16 Jun 1936 Samuel Weicht, 78, Spanish-American war veteran, died at his home in Wolf Lake Wednesday. Surviving are three sons, Lee and William, of Marion, and Lyman, of Van Buren; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Leininger, of Bristol, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. Sigmund Bachelor, of Chicago, Mrs. Josephine Zipfel, of Angola, and Ms. Rose Willep (sic), of Bryan, Ohio. The body was removed to the Weicht funeral home in Angola. Funeral services will be held at the home of Lyman Weicht Thursday. Coroner's Record Samuel J. Weicht, 10 Apr 1858 - 16 June 1936, was born in Angola, Steuben County, Indiana, and died in Nobel County, Indiana. He was the son of Leopold Edward Weicht, 06 Aug 1830 - 07 Feb 1896, and Catharine (Schaab) Weicht, 03 Aug 1832 - 25 Dec 1895. Leopold and Catharine are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. On 07 Jun 1879, Samuel married Clara (Stocker) Weicht, 10 May 1859 - 1939. She was the daughter of Leland W. Stoker, 21 May 1817 - 27 Oct 1894, and Lucy (Mallory) Stocker, 03 Nov 1818 - 24 Feb 1905. Leland and Lucy Stocker are buried at the Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. His Pedigree Chart shows he was born in Angola, Steuben County, Indiana, and died in Kosciusko, Indiana. On 27 Dec 1913, he married Hazel Franklin Dixon, born 19 Sep 1888 in Fayette, Ohio, and died 145 Nov 1969, in Kosciusko, Indiana. No information on the other children. SIBLINGS: Valentine Weicht, born 01 Jan 1853 and died 10 Aug 1853 in Berea, Ohio. Henry B. Weicht, born 03 Sep 1854 in Berea, Ohio, and died 09 Nov 1922 in Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. He married 1st, Leona (Tyler) Weicht, no dates listed on monument. Also listed on Tyler monument. He married 2nd, Clara (Mclue) Weicht, 15 Jul 1860 - 14 Jul 1894. He married 3rd, Mary (Beil) Weicht, 1870 - 1948. All are buried in Sec. 11, Lot 12 at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Josephine (Weicht) Zipfel, 29 Dec 1855 - 1939, married Joseph Zipfel, 1847 - 1923. Buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. Franklin Weicht, died 12 Aug 1861, aged 1 year and 3 days. Cemetery Book states he is buried at Old Angola Cemetery. It also states that "Circle Hill Cemetery Records show an infant buried on the lot of Leopold E. and Catharine (Schaab) Weiht in 1861. No marker. Sec. 12, Lot 33." Elizabeth Sigma (Weicht) Bachelor, 24 Jun 1862 - no date of death, on 29 Jan 1887, married Charles A. Bachelor. The information on page 65 in the cemetery book is incorrect. Katie Rosena (Weicht) Willett, 10 May 1865 - no date of death, on 29 Oct 1884, married W. Otis Willett in Steuben County. Samuel's father, Leopold Edward Weicht, was the founder of the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana, which is now, in 2004, being operated by the 5th and 6th generations. Samuel served in the Spanish-American War, 21 Jan 1898 - 01 Nov 1898, 157th Reg. Co. H, co-organized at Angola, Indiana, 10 Nov 1891, assigned to Co. H., 3rd Inf., Ind., National Guard.
