LEONARD G. WEISS, 28 Mar 18347 - 27 Jun 1902

   Leonard G. Weiss was born in Uffenheim, Bavaria, Germany, March 28, 
1837, and died at Angola, Indiana, June 27, 1902, aged 65 years and three 
months.
   At the age of fourteen years he learned he tailoring trade and followed 
it up to the last days of his life.  He was married to Christina B. Gates, 
May 21, 1865, in Nuremburg, Germany, and in the fall of 1867, emigrated to 
America, coming direct to Angola.  To them were born six children, two 
dying in infancy in Germany, the other four being born in Angola, three 
sons and one daughter.  The oldest son, John, died Jan. 5, 1898; the 
daughter, Mrs. Sibylla Cramer, and two sons, Carl and Oscar, with their 
mother survive him.
   Mr. Weiss became an Odd Fellow on April 27, 1872, passed he official 
chairs in the Lodge and Emcampment, and was quite an enthusiastic member 
of the Canton.  At one time he took first prize as being the most 
efficient member in the secret or unwritten work of the order in Angola.  
Since the death of his son, he did not seem to be the same man he formerly 
was, and for several years did not attend lodge as was his custom in his 
earlier years.  He had been working at his bench at home all day Tuesday, 
and had gone up town to the postoffice when that terrible life destroyer, 
paralysis, attacked him, and on Friday morning her breathed his last.
   Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. G. Neal on Sunday afternoon 
at the M. E. church.  Burial at Circle Hill under the auspices of the 
I.O.O.F.

buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. 
   Oscar Weiss, 1882 - 1916, buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.

Per Cemetery book, the German spelling of Goetz was corrupted to Gates.
