ESTELLA D. (HOWARD) WELLS, 05 May 1851 - 13 Oct 1903

    Estella D. Howard was born in Jackson township, Steuben county, 
Ind., May 5, 1851; died at her home in Angola, Ind., Oct. 13, 1903, 
aged 52 years, 5 months and 7 days.
   Oct. 30, 1867, deceased was united in marriage with S. W. Wells 
and with the exception of about three yeas, all her married life 
has been spent in Angola.  To this union one child was born, Mrs. 
Maud Amaden, of Hicksville, Ohio.
   Deceased is survived by her husband and daughter, four sisters, 
one brother and her aged mother.  By these and many more she will 
be cherished in fond and grateful memory during years to come.  The 
long years of suffering have not been sufficient to blot out the 
rememberance (sic) of her loving and tireless activity in the days 
of her health and strength.  Her good works have followed her 
during all the days of her illness and their limit is not yet.  Of 
rugged worth of character, the church is richer for the heritage of 
her faith and many pleasant and helpful relationships find their 
channels of influence deeper even yet because the one now silent in 
our presence, whose voice years ago was for both truth and good 
cheer.  For such a one to die is truest gain.  Tired and worn, she 
rests in peace, and the day of suffering that seemed so long when 
counted by calendars on earth, will fade away as a dream in the 
glad sweet home of our God.  Funeral at Angola Christian church, 
Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14, Elder C. S. Medbury officiating.

   Estella D. (Howard) Wells, 05 May 1851 - 13 Oct 1903, married W. 
Sylvenus Wells, 1845 - 1918.  They are buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.  Estella was the 
daughter of Morris Howard, 27 Dec 1811 - 09 Jul 1886, and Frances 
Jane (Hobdey) Howard, 07 Dec 1828 - 17 Nov 1903.  The parents are 
buried at Flint Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.

DAUGHTER:  Maude (Wells) Amaden, 1873 - 1952, on 19 Jun 1897, 
married Guy W. Amaden, 1872 - 1950.  They are buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery.

SIBLINGS:
   Adaline M. (Howard) Sowle Wells, 08 Nov 1846 - 17 Jan 1929, 
married 1st, _____ Sowle whose burial place is unknown.  Adaline is 
buried at Sowle Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  On 31 Aug 1862, 
she married 2nd, Friend S. Wells, 28 Dec 1840 - 26 Apr 1909, who is 
buried at Sowle Cemetery.
   Emery Howard, 14 Sep 1861 - 04 Mar 1862, buried at Flint 
Cemetery.
   Alta Howard, 05 Sep 1865 - 14 Sep 1877, buried at Flint 
Cemetery.
   Effa Howard, 01 Mar 1870 - 17 Jul 1918, buried at Flint 
Cemetery.
   Edward Howard, 1855 - no date of death, on 24 Sep 1881, married 
Ada A. (Badger) Howard,  Burial places unknown.
   Merville/Merril Howard, 1863 (1870 per Census) - 1927, on 10 Sep 
1893, married Clara (Myers) Howard, 1873 - 1935, daughter of Thomas 
J. and Catherine (Cain) Myers.

   Estella's father, Morris Howard, is listed in the Original Land 
Owners, page 24, "Morris Howard in 1837, Pleasant Township, Section 
22, 80 acres."
