WILLIAM WICKWIRE, 09 Aug 1821 - 22 Dec 1901

   William Wickwire was born in Ontario county, New York, August 9, 
1821, and died at his home near Angola, Indiana, Dec. 22, 1901, aged 
80 years, 4 months and 14 days. 

   When a lad thirteen years of age he went to Ohio, and on April 
1_, 1845, was joined in marriage with Olivia Crockett, who survives 
him.  In 1850 he went to California where he remained for two years, 
returning to Green Springs, Ohio, where he engaged in business.  In 
1857 he and his good wife came to Angola and located on a farm a 
mile west of town, where they have resided continuously until the 
present time.  He became identified with the Angola bank in 1876, 
and on the death of Alfred Osborn in 1886, he became cashier, a 
position he filled until his death.  Mr. Wickwire, like every other 
man, was peculiar in some ways, but was quiet, conservative and 
honest in his dealings.  Many persons have been carried over rough, 
financial troubles, by Mr. Wickwire, of which the world will never 
have any knowledge.  One chief anxiety of his life was that no one 
should ever lose a cent of any money entrusted to his care, and the 
obligation he kept sacred.  Funeral services were held at the 
Christian church on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by 
Elder C. S. Medbury.

   The will of William Wickwire, deceased, was probated Dec. 25th.  
He gave to his wife, Olivia H. Wickwire, all of his estate, both 
real and personal, absolutely in her own right and fee simple 
forever, and nominated her as the executrix of the will to 
administer and settle the estate without bonds.

(Crockett) Wickwire, 1823 - 1912.  They are buried at Circle  Hill 
Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
