STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7, 1901, page 1, column 8 HENRY WIGGINS, 15 Sep 1838 - 11 Apr 1901 Henry Wiggins was born in Jamestown township, Steuben county, Indiana, Sept. 15, 1838, and died at his home near Crooked lake, April 11, 1901, aged 62 years, 6 months and 25 days. May 28, 1865, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth McIntyre, of Williams county, Ohio. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters all of whom, with the mother and six grandchildren survive him. In the spring of 1861 he purchased the farm on which he resided at the time of his death, it them being in its wild state and by his unceasing toil he brought it to its present state of cultivation. He united with the U. B. church in 1889 and remained a true and consistent christian to the last. He was a great sufferer for over nine years, but bore it all patiently, submitting uncomplainingly to the Master's will. His last words were, "I will not care how soon my Lord I hear, then will I know my sorrows all will cease." He was conscientious and upright in all dealings with his fellow men, and by his death a kind and thoughtful husband and father and a true friend has been taken away. All of his family excepting one daughter, Mrs. Anna Kellar, of Fort Wayne, was with him at the time of his death. Mr. Wiggins was one of a family of six children, five boys, Endres, Nathan, Henry, Alfred and Richard and one sister, Mrs. Eunice Jarvis, of Flint, Indiana. The father, mother and three brothers having preceded him to the world beyond. Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Gage, Sunday, April 14, conducted by Elder Joseph Porter. They are both buried at Lake Gage Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. He is the son of John Wiggins, born about 15 Jun 1808 and died 22 Jan 1880, aged 71 years, 7 months and 7 days, and Luria B. (Summers) Wiggins, born about 07 May 1810 and died 24 May 1879, aged 69 years and 17 days. They are buried at Crain Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. CHILDREN: Anna (Wiggins) Keller, 1874 - 1948, married John Keller, 1864 - 1943. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. William L. Wiggins, 10 Apr 1880 - 06 May 1904, is buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. Alice I. Wiggins, no dates listed, is buried at Lake Gage Cemetery. HENRY WIGGINS' SIBLINGS: Richard Wiggins, born about 16 Jul 1843 - 11 Oct 1859, buried at Crain Cemetery. Eunice (Wiggins) Jarvis, 1845 (1852 in 1885 History) - 1928, married Israel Jarvis, 1844 - 1924. They are buried at Flint Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Endress Wiggins, 27 Jan 1847 - 27 Apr 1913, married Estella Tabor, 1856 - 1922, daughter of Washington W. and Esther Ann (Ayres) Tabor. They are buried at Sowle Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Alford (Alfred in obituary) Wiggins, age 1 year 12 days. No dates available. He is buried at Crain Cemetery. Nathan Wiggins, died in Feb 1876. Henry Wiggins married Gertie (Pifer) Wiggins, no dates or place of burial.
