This obituary for Seth Wilbur/Wilbur was published in the Steuben Republican, 01 Feb 1862, p.3, c.1: Died at Camp Wood, KY, Seth Wilber, son of Ira Wilber of Clear Lake Township, this county in the 18th year of his age. The above was a Private in Capt. Jenkins company and his parents were not advised of his sickness or death until his body arrived at Hillsdale on Wednesday last. It must have been a sorrowful sight for his parents to behold him, the son that left them but a few short months ago, full of life and vigor, lay there in cold death, without first being warned of the same. But the ways of the Almighty are mysterious. We sympathize with the friends of the deceased, and hope that the God, "that doeth all things well," will stand by them in this hour of their affliction. He was buried on last Thursday forenoon, at the church in York Township, with the honors of war, on which occasion the Rev. Mr. Sowle preached one the of the most affecting and elegant sermons ever preached in this county, to a congregation of over a thousand people. "Peace to his ashes." We would say to the company of which he was a member, that he has won the battle of life, and is now assigned to the dust, but he "still liveth," in the hearts of his countrymen, and his death should be a warning to you, so that you too may be prepared when the angel of death visits your camp. On 03 Nov 1860, Ira married his 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Bunker) Vaughn, 1821 - 15 Aug 1869, buried at Teeters Cemetery. CHILD OF THIS MARRIAGE: Walter Wilbur/Wilber, born in 1865. On 08 Feb 1871, he married his 3rd wife, Delilah A. (Butter) Strayes Wilbur/Wilber, born in 1846.
