ALICE COLLINS WILDER Mrs. Harry Wilder Services were held in the First Congregational Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday for Mrs. Alice Collins Wilder, 85, wife of the late Harry E. Wilder, whose death occurred in 1954. Mrs. Wilder's death occurred at 9:30 p.m. last Friday in the Cameron Hospital where she had been admitted two weeks previously after she had suffered a broken hip. She had been in declining health for some months, however, she had managed to continue living in her own home with the assistance at times of Mrs. Harry Smurr, Mrs. Florence Howland, Mrs. Edith Burns, and Agnes Yates and the constant watchfulnness of her children. The former Alice Collins, she was born to Mrs. And Mrs. Charles Collins in Jamestown Township, Steuben Co. (Ind.) on February 4, 1876, and had spent her entire life in this county. She was one of six children, two daughters and four sons: Lynn, Florence, Alice, Fred, Walter, and Frank Collins. Mrs. Wilder's younger days were spent on her father's farm and she worked in the general store at Jamestown. After attending the common schools she went to Marion College at Marion, Indiana, after which she taught school in what was then known as the Collins school on the Vistula Road. She was married to Harry E. Wilder in 1902 and they moved to Angola around 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder had four children: Lorene Rose, who was born in 1907 and died in 1935, surviving are Leon Wendell Wilder of Dayton, Ohio; Katherine Wilder Wilt, of Ft. Wayne, and Richard Collins Wilder of Angola. Surviving also are several grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Wilder were deeply devoted to the work of the Congregational Church in Angola, where they held their membership since 1906. Mrs. Wilder taught in the Sunday school where she was an excellent teacher and example. In later years she was a faithful member of the Women's Bible Study class. Of a highly cultured and literary mind she was a member of the Sorosis Circle in Angola and served as the president of the club in 1941-42, and was an associate member at the time of her death. Services for Mrs. Wilder were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday under direction of the Klink Funeral Home in the First Congregational Church with the Rev. Raymond Shoup officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery at Orland, (Ind.).
