Steuben-Republican October 1905 Ephriam B. Williams was born in Orleans county, N.Y. January 10, 1833. In 1836, he came with his parents to Steuben county, Indiana, where the family settled near Orland. Six years later the family removed to a farm in Otsego township. He was married in 1857 to Susan Pierce who, after a very brief wedded life, died. In 1864, he married Martha Cooper who together with two daughters survive him. A third daughter died in 1881. The last thirteen years of his life, Mr. Williams spent in Angola in the quiet retirement of his home. Like most men who come to advanced years he did not see life's western shadows lengthen without feeling the heavy touch of pain and decrepitude. For years he suffered, suffered keenly and almost incessantly. This kept his life out of the public view, but to his neighbors and friends who were privileged to look within the sheltering walls of his home he was known and admired as a man of modest bearing, great patience and undoubted devotion to his family. September 28, 1905, he fell asleep aged 72 years, 8 months and 18 days. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday at 2 p.m., conducted by Elder Vernon Stauffer. Interment at Pleasant Lake.
