Wood was born in Jefferson county, New York, Sept. 21, 1834, and died at his home in Fairview, Jan. 13, 1902, aged 67 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was a member of the Angola Christian church and had lived a worthy life in this section, from his early manhood. Three children survive him, two daughters living in Michigan, and Arthur Wood of our community. Funeral at Fairview Christian church Wednesday, Jan. 15, Elder C. S. Medbury officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: James H. Wood, 21 Sep 1834 - 13 Jan 1902, married E. F. Wood. James is buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. No information about his wife. A son, Edwin Wood, died 09 Mar 1878 per Cemetery Book; died 06 Mar 1870, aged 4 years and 10 months, per "City of the Dead" article in the Steuben Republican, Wednesday, June 7, 1893, page 1, columns 3, 4. He is buried at Old Angola Cemetery. "History of Steuben County, IN - 1885", page 658 states that James Wood was elected Constable for Pleasant Township in 1882 (two-year term).
