STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1899, page 1, column 7 FREDERICK YOCKEY, 25 Sep 1808 - 05 Feb 1899, (picture with obituary) The subject of the above sketch was born in Franklin county, Penn., Sept. 25th, 1808, and died at his home near Fox Lake, southwest of Angola, February 5th, 1899, aged 90 years, 4 months and 10 days. On January 5th, 1834, Mr. Yockey was joined in marriage with Mary Ann Ecker, and to the union was born seven children, three sons and four daughters. The wife and mother died in March, 1849, leaving him alone to the care and training of his children, a duty well and faithfully discharged. One son, David, died in 1863, at the age of twenty-three years. Six children survive, all but one being with him during his last days. June 21, 1855, he was married to Mary Ann Spigelmire, who died July 1, 1893. Mr. Yockey came to Steuben county in April, 1859, and lived one year on the farm now owned by Charles Bookness. He then bought the farm where he has since resided, and made for himself a pleasant home and many friends. For many years he was a faithful member of the Lutheran church, but there being no church of his choice here, he united with the M. E. church about ten years ago. Funeral services were held at the home, Rev. Kemper officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Frederick Yockey, 25 Sep 1808 - 05 Feb 1899, married 1st, Mary Ann (Ecker) Yockey who died in March 1849. She is not buried in Steuben County. His 2nd wife was Mary Ann (Spigelmire) Yockey, 10 Feb 1820 - 01 Jul 1893. Frederick and May Ann are buried at Mt. Zion cemetery.
