Am
seeking information on the family of Alexander S. and Anabel (Ewart)
Moore. Alexander was born 2 Feb 1827 in Ohio and died 14 May 1903
in Steuben County (near Angola). He is buried in Circle Hill
Cemetery. Anabel was born about 1830 in Oh and death date and place is
unknown, but she was still living at time of 1910 Steuben County census
with a son.
Children
included two sons, Ewart S. born about 1854, death unknown; and
Commodore G. born about 1861, death unknown. Ewart may have
remained in Steuben County, and married a Rosa Sherwood; and he is
supposed to be buried in Circle Hill cemetery. Commodore was in
DeKalb County IN in 1910 and 1920 (census) and married a Martha ____.
Am particularly interested in
finding death date and place for Anabel, and perhaps an obituary, as
we're trying to verify her parents and siblings.

I am looking for information about
my gr.
gr. grandfather Norman H. Foster. I'm not sure if he was born in
Stueben Co., but he was married to a Mary Beard on Oct. 22, 1853 in
Angola, Stueben Co. Later they moved to Gilead Michigan. Trying to find
his parents.
I have Civil war pension records that
indicate a child by this marriage (Mary A.) was raised by a grandmother
(Patience Waterhouse) this may be his mother remarried. 1860 Census
lists her with two children with Foster last name and the
granddaughter. It also lists Patience's place of birth as Canada.
Any information about this family

Baxter. Her
husband's name was Bryan Anthony Baxter, Children Phyllis,
Mildred and Charles Ross Baxter. I do not know her parents names
I guess
that's where I am trying to get started. I think her father was a

teacher there in a one room school house and had the first
"Indian" Harley in town. He also worked for the New York Central
Railroad.
They also owned a gas station (standard oil) in Hamilton. Any info you

grandfather, Lewis Henry Williams (also known as Henry). Any
information would be very much appreciated. I would like to find
out where my great grandma is buried. She was Louisa Elizabeth
Williams. Maiden name was Zent and was also known as Elizabeth
Louisa. I think she died somewhere around 1883 or 1888. I
know they lived in Ohio before coming to Michigan but thought that they
might have spent some time there in Indiana being Enos was there.

I am interested in finding anyone who might have information on
the families that emigrated to Kansas in the 1870's. Why?
Who encouraged them to move? How they found life there for the
few years they were there before returning to Steuben Co., IN.
Some of the families known to have done this were: Jacob
& Elizabeth Menges Wolf [their daughter Mary Alice was born in KS
in 1874]; Andrew & Percy Slocum Wolf [their daughter Mary B. was
born in KS in 1872]; Joseph & Jane Anderson Wolf [ 2 children,
Martha C. 1872 & Harvey L. 1874 born in KS].
I believe there were more families who moved to Milford, Davis
Co., KS at that time, but do not have them in mind today. Oral
history from our family indicates that the Jacob Wolf family lived in
an abode that had been build by previous 'homesteaders' that was a sod
hut. They were thre from about 1872-1877 or so during which time
there was a major drought, locusts, prairie fires, and other natural
disasters which discouraged them to the point that they returned to
Steuben Co. The families traveled to KS by wagon but returned the
women and children by train from Independence, MO, while the men drove
the livestock back to IN which took them about 6 weeks more in time.
Thank you for any information that you might have regarding this
emigration to KS and back.
