George Washington Cole Mary E Rager Cole 1890 - Mary E. Rager Cole

George Washington Cole was born 06 March 1827, he married Mary Elizabeth Rager on 21 October 1849 in Wabash Indiana. Mary Elizabeth was born 31 March 1832 in North Manchester, Indiana. To this union there were 5 children born; Alphonse Ralph Cole, Rebecca Luticia Cole, Bion Franklin Cole, Mary Kansas Cole, and George E. E. Cole.

George claimed to be born in Ohio. The story goes that the 5 children maybe more but the 5 kept in touch, were on a wagon train heading west and it was attacked by Indians and the parents killed (the parents may have been a marriage of white and Indian) the children were taken in by different families and seperated. They were supposedly too young to remember who their parents were in later years or where they were born George, Died in Battle of Champion's Hill 1863

Mary died 01 April 1915 in Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana, Mary was the daughter of Adam Rager and Catherine Maurer. After George died Mary remarried to Joseph K. Lautzenheiser.


Alphonso Ralph Cole

Alphonso Ralp Cole was born 15 November 1851 in North Manchester, IN he married Lorinda Wineland.


Rebecca Letitia Cole Place

Rebecca Lutcia Cole was born 14 May 1854 in North Manchester, Indiana, she married Arvid Place. Rebecca died 21 May 1930 in Goshen, Indiana


Bion Franklin Cole (Written on back of Photo)

Bion Franklin Cole was born 01 May 1857 in Wabash, Indiana and he married Jessie Miller. Bion died in 1924 in a Hospital for the insane in Nebraska.


 

Mary Kansas Cole - born 19 March 1860 in Liberty Mills, Wabash, Indiana, she married George W. Plum

 


George E. Cole (Written on back of Photo)

George E. E. Cole was born 14 April 1863 in Wabash and he married 03 October 1888 to Nettie Poyser


 

Many of the members of this family settled in the South Bend, Elkhart and Goshen areas.
