John Kwasniewski / Kwasneski and Praxedia / Freda (Kaczmarek) Family

John was born June 3, 1870 in Prussian, Poland and came to this country as a child about 1886, settling in the area around Morris Run. PA.  John had a younger brother Andrew and they worked together in the mines of Pennsylvania. Sometime after 1908 he moved his family to South Bend, Indiana.

He will marry the former Praxedia “Freda” Kaczmarek in Pennsylvania about 1890, her mother’s name was “Eva” and she survived her daughter’s death in 1934, living in Blossburg, PA. There will be eight children born to this union; Sophia, Martha, Francis, Violet, Stanley, Leo M, Bert, and Frank J.

John will pass at age 62 after an illness of four years and Praxedia will follow on January 1, 1934, the first traffic fatality of the year. She was struck by a bus while crossing the street at the intersection of Washington and Main.

 They rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery   
 


The Leo M & Lottie (Manuszak) Kwasneski Family

The Leo M & Lottie (Manuszak) Kwasneski was born June 1, 1899 in Morris Run, PA. The son of John and Prexedia (Kaczmarek) Kwasniewski . Sometime after 1908 the family will move to South Bend and Leo will spend his youth in this city.


On April 3, 1926 he will marry the former Lottie Manuszak the daughter of  Stanley and Helena (Piechorowska) Manuszak in St. Hedwig Church . Two children will be born to this union Leo C and Daniel A.

Leo will serve in the US Navy during WW I and spend his career at Studebaker. He has an interest in racing  pigeon’s  and is a member of the South Bend Homing Pigeon Club and the Pulaski Post 357.
The family makes it home on 630 Birdsell  street and attends Holy Cross Church.

Leo will pass in 1976 and Lottie will follow in 1996. They rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery   Photo Caption ... Studebaker Spotlight 1953

 The Leo C. & Betty (Durrant)  Kwasneski Family  

Leo Kwasneski was born March 07, 1928 in Sourh Bend, IN,  the  son of Leo M & Lottie (Manuszak) Kwasneski. On July 26, 1952 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mishawaka he marries the former Betty Durrant.   Leo will make his career in law enforcement with the South Bend Police Department. Two children will be born to this union; Michael and Michelle.
