Artie T. Abigt

WYATT - Artie T. Abigt, 87, of Wyatt, IN, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Saturday in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Artie retired in 1985 from Ironworkers Local #292 after more than 40 years of service. He also was a farmer. He was born on February 27, 1921, in Indianapolis, to the late Arthur F. and Minnie (Elder) Abigt, and had lived in this area all of his life.

 

On May 14, 1944, in Bremen, IN, he married Dorothy M. (Hardy) Abigt, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Rudisel of Terre Haute, IN, and Rosemarie Abigt of South Bend; three sons, Roger (Jackie) Abigt of Bremen, IN, James (Nita) Abigt of Joliet, TN, and John Abigt of South Bend. There are 11 grandchildren, Lorie Collings, Michelle Burris, Amy Harvey, Dawn Metcalf, Jeff Abigt, Jenny Woods, Christopher Abigt, Mandi Hansen, Travis, Stephanie and Melany Schori. There are also 14 great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 South Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friend may call from noon until time of services on Tuesday in the funeral home. Artie was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, Masonic Lodge - Lakeville, Local # 292 Ironworkers Union, and attended Lakeville United Methodist Church. Contributions in memory of Artie T.
