Warren J. Ackenhusen

Warren J. Ackenhusen, 89, of West 14th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Rosewood Terrace. Warren was born in Mishawaka on Sept. 28, 1912, and was a lifelong area resident. He retired in 1958 from the Mishawaka Police Department after 20 years of service, and from Wheelabrator-Frye Corporation in 1975 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was very active and was a usher for over 50 years. Warren was a member of F.O.P. #91 where he was the last living member of the original F.O.P.

 

On Aug. 31, 1935, in Mishawaka, Warren married Pearl M. Werner, who passed away Nov. 11, 1981. Warren was also preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Minnie (Carpenter) Ackenhusen; two brothers, Ralph and Richard; and by a sister, Helen Huff. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon A. Whitfield of Mishawaka and Norma J. (Al) Ladyga of Mishawaka; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Robert Ackenhusen.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
