MISHAWAKA - Ivan R. Adams, 76, of
14978 Kern Road, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an
illness. Mr. Adams retired in July 1983 from Alro Steel, South
Bend. He was born June 28, 1919, in Elkhart.
On April 3, 1982, in South Bend, he married
Erma Willowdean Magyery. She survives with four daughters,
Merry Jo Elrod of Niles, Reva C. Miller of South
Bend, Dora Ford of Fairmont, Ind., and Rebecca Sue Melton
of North Liberty; five stepdaughters, Vicki E. Thaler of
Huntington, Ind., Bernadette L. McPeek of San Diego,
Calif., Teresa A. Powers of Cassopolis, and Monica D. Roscoe
and Michelle J. Albin, both of Elkhart; two stepsons,
James VanBuskurk of Huntington and Michael J. Magyery of
Bristol; 33 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a
sister, Evelyn Silver of Elkhart. An Army veteran of World War
II, he was a member of North Liberty American Legion Post 365,
North Liberty Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1954 and
International Teamsters Local 364.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Hanley
& Sons Funeral Home, South Bend. Entombment will be in
Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, with graveside rites by the North
Liberty American Legion Post 365. Friends may call from 4 to 9
p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to any charity.
