Robert R. Adams, 73, of Hammond, Ind., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Saturday, July 17. He was born on Dec. 6, 1925, in South Bend.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; two daughters, Linda (Steve) Batey of Hammond and Nancy (Les) Arnold of Crown Point, Ind.; five grandchildren, Danny and Charlie Batey of Hammond, and Jorie, John and Jenna Arnold of Crown Point; and a twin brother, Rev. Richard C. Adams of Hamden, Conn.

Mr. Adams was a resident of this area for 36 years, a volunteer for the Hammond Crime Watch Organization, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church of Hammond, and American Legion Post #16 of Hammond. The American Legion will conduct memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

Funeral services will also be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, in the LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Avenue, Hammond. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
