MISHAWAKA - Veda L. Aitken, 82,
formerly of Mishawaka, died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9,
2008, in Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in South
Bend. She was born in Clinton, Indiana, on February 19, 1925, to
Josiah "Otis" and Mabel M. (Dowdy) Church.
Veda was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two
sisters.
Veda married Harold L. Aitken in Valparaiso,
and he also preceded her in death. Mrs. Aitken was a homemaker, a
member of the Young at Heart and First Baptist Church of
Mishawaka. She is survived by her daughter, Denise
"Deni" (Bill) Newton of Michigan City; a son,
Randall "Randy" (Betty) Aitken of Mishawaka; a
grandson, Jesse Newton, a granddaughter, Amber Aitken, and a
great-granddaughter, MyKenzie. Among other survivors is a sister,
Hilda Amend of California.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday,
February 15, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., from 9
a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m., with Rev. David Miller
officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens next to her husband.
