William R. Akin, 71, of Dover Drive, South Bend, IN died at his residence on Monday, July 19, 1999.
William was born September 19, 1927 in Elkhart, IN to Guy and Edna (Drabenstot) Akin. He is survived by two daughters: Susan Funk of Sacramento, CA, Holly Anderson of Portland, OR; three sons: William Akin of Cameron Park, CA, Bradley Akin of Sacramento, CA, Will (Dolores) Akin of San Jose, CA; two step-sons: Leigh (Jan) Keicher of Yuba City, CA, Brian (Rosemary) Keicher of Lake Oswego, CA; a sister: Nancy (Don) Hegland of South Bend, IN; a brother, Ronald (Peggy) Akin of Granger, IN.
William was in the Navy and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was also involved with the San Jose Shrine.
Funeral services for William Richard Akin will be held on Friday, July 23, 1999 at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Cremation will take place following services. The family will receive callers at Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, Thursday, July 22, 1999 from 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations in memory of William R. Akin may be given to the American Heart Association.
