Leo L. Alexis
Leo L. Alexis, 98, of Meridian Nursing Center Cardinal, died there at 7:25 pm Tuesday. Mr. Alexis was a retired bricklayer and stone mason. He was born Aug. 30, 1889 in Watervliet, and lived in South Bend since coming from Hartford in 1906. In 1926 he married the former Maude G. Beam. She died Jun 29, 1960. He is survived by two nieces, Elvie Humphrey of South Bend and Wanda Shook of Westville. Services will be at 11 am Friday in Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday in the funeral home. Mr. Alexis was a veteran of World War I and life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6. He was a full-blooded Potawatomi Indian.
