WALKERTON - Cleatis "Jack" Allen, 79, passed
away Tuesday, September 9, 2008, in Rose Arbor Hospice Residence,
Kalamazoo, MI. Mr. Allen was born May 27, 1929, in Salyersville,
KY, to William and Minnie Allen, and had lived in the Walkerton
area most of his life. On January 10, 1970, in LaPaz, IN, he was
married to Rosa Burket Calhoon, who preceded him in
death on November 16, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his
parents; two brothers, Clarence and Grover Allen; and two
sisters, Adgie Allen and Margie Minix. Survivors include
three children, Carolyn Allen of Portage, MI, Dennis (Vicki)
Allen of Centerville, MI, and Vicki Hooley of Portage, MI;
three stepdaughters, Cindy (Irvin) Linse of Grovertown,
Sandy Calhoon of Plymouth and Pat Eberly of CA; 22
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Bays,
Mazie Heister, Eva Rice, Ruth Howard, Ruby
Minix and Madge Whickcar, all of Walkerton; and brothers,
Warren Allen of Walkerton, Clifford Allen of Plymouth and William
Allen of FL. Mr. Allen was a former employee of Wells Aluminum in
North Liberty. He and his wife, Rosa, were avid gardeners,
raising vegetables and produce and selling to the community for
many years.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00
a.m. Eastern Time in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel,
with Rev. Lloyd George officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn
Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT
and Saturday after 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Memorial
