SOUTH BEND - Claris E. "Clare" Altic, 82 of South Bend passed away Tuesday evening November 4th in his residence. Born May 13, 1926 in Frankfort, Indiana to Clarence B. Altic, Sr. and Carrie Hart. On July 26, 1952 in Fort Wayne, IN he married the former Barbara A. Yoder who survives along with his daughter Beverly Sult of Mishawaka, sons Dennis E. and Laura Altic of Marshall, MI and William S. and Diane Altic of Hopewell Junction, N.Y. Five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A sister Katherine Raissle (Robert) of Stopbridge, Georgia, brothers Clarence B. Altic, Jr (Phyllis) of South Bend and James E. Altic of Sun City, AZ. Clare graduated from Riley High school and entered the United States Army and was discharged in 1947. After serving in the military Clare went to Franklin College and graduated in 1951 after which she worked for the Studebaker Corp till they closed in 1963 and then worked for Uniroyal in Mishawaka. Clare and Barbara a.k.a. Mrs. Wood  were the co-owners of Naturally Wood and retired from there in 1990. Clare was a former member of Masonic Lodge #294 and The Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He was a church deacon, Elder and Trustee at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 8th in the Church with Rev. James B. Miller officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. till services in the church 115 S. Francis St. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.
