Doris M. Andrews

Doris M. Andrews (Homoky), 75, of South Bend, Ind., went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:43 p.m. on Valentine's Day. She had been a resident at the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, and was being treated for Parkinson's Disease.

 

Doris is survived by her children, Scott Andrews of South Bend, Lisa Andrews of Royal Oak, Mich., and Ted Andrews of Indianapolis, Ind.; her niece, Ann Graham (Tom) of Port Deposit, MD.; her nephews, Pat Murray (Shirley) of Mishawaka, Ind., and Paul Murray (Esther) of South Bend; her grandsons, Andy, Alex and Scott Hill of Royal Oak, Mich.; great nieces, Kelli and Rachel; great nephews, Tom, Larry and Jon; and by her dog, Lucy, and three cats.

 

Doris was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on Dec. 7, 1922, to Julia (Bokor) and Charles Homoky.

The last surviving member of her family, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Yvonne Roy, Ruth Murray and Gladys Homoky; and by her brother, Ted Homoky.

 

She graduated from Mishawaka High School and attended Wheaton College. In South Bend, Doris worked for Raymond Loewy and Associates, where she met her husband, automotive designer Robert F. Andrews, who died in 1991. They were married on Oct. 5, 1954, and moved to New York. They lived in Birmingham, Mich., from 1965 to 1982, where Doris was an office manager for John Mitchell Interiors. Doris was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church and was a devoted supporter of numerous Christian organizations. She enjoyed current events, gardening, fashion, her pets and especially baking for her family.

 

The St. Joseph Funeral Home at 1827 E. Ireland will have visitation today from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Free Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with Bill Webster officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
