Lloyd Place Andrews, 69, residing on Ottawa Court, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind. He was born April 8, 1934, in Mishawaka, as the son of Harley O. and Myrtle Viola (Place) Andrews, and had lived most of his life in this area.

 

On Dec. 21, 1968, in Seymour, Ind., he married Phyllis Ann Pogue. She preceded him in death on April 25, 1988. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Norman, Robert, Charles, Harley, George and Bill Andrews; and by a sister, Winifred Madlem.

 

Then on April 8, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Donna Joy Martz Howell, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle D. (Alex) Bicknell of Seymour; his son, W. Greg (Jennifer) Andrews of South Bend; three stepdaughters, Diamond (David) Bateson of Elkhart, Ind., Doreen (Dale) Zimmerman of Mishawaka and Desiree (Owen) Andrews of Goshen, Ind.; a stepson, Duane Howell of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Jean (Dale) Gaut of Lakeville, Ind., and Margaret Andrews of South Bend; four brothers, Richard Andrews of South Bend, Russell (Wanda) Andrews of Elkhart, Walter (Carol) Andrews of Akron, Ind., and Byron (Andrea) Andrews of Estes Park, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Ardell Madlem of South Bend; two sisters-in-law, Martha Faye Andrews of South Bend and Rose Andrews of California; and by his father-in-law, Cyril D. "Don" Martz of South Bend.

 

Mr. Andrews worked in Pre-Paid Legal Services. He served in the RV industry for more than 30 years, and was the former owner of Peppers RV in Seneca, Ill. He graduated from Ball State University, and served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Notre Dame football, and Chicago Bulls basketball.

 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Roger Keiling will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind., where members of VFW Post 360 will conduct military rites. The family and friends may visit in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park today, May 30, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Lloyd P.
