SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth Wanda Andrysiak, 85, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Lilly) Andrysiak of South Bend; three daughters, Marlene Crumley of Yakima, WA, Kristine (Ronald) Dean of Osceola and Patricia (Don) McManus of South Bend; 12 grandchildren, Laurie (Larry) Piekarz, David Dean, Alex (Melissa) Crumley, Courtney (Phil) Lipinski, Damien Crumley, Jennifer (Ronald) Christiana, Adrienne Szymanski, Jessica McManus-Warnell, Angela McManus, Erin (Brad) Fini, Elizabeth Andrysiak and Katelyn Andrysiak; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Betty) Gadacz; a sister, Theresa (Arthur) Perry; and sisters-in-law, Betha Kusz, Mary Knudson and Virginia Becchelli. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; son, John Dennis; brothers, Louis "Kelly" and John Gadacz; and by her sister, Agnes Lodyga. Elizabeth "Betty" Gadacz was born the beloved daughter of Joseph and Martha Ziolkowski Gadacz on June 26, 1923, in South Bend. She was educated in the South Bend parochial schools and was married at St. Adalbert Catholic Church to John Bert Andrysiak on May 26, 1945. John died on June 21, 1994. Betty was employed at Stone Container in South Bend for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening and baking. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as attending all of their school events.

 

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 4th, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5th, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church and Parish, 2420 Huron St., South Bend, IN 46619.
