SOUTH BEND - Martha P. Anthony, 102, residing at Alterra
Sterling House, South Bend, formerly of Mishawaka Avenue,
Mishawaka, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007, in
the Alterra Sterling House. She was born September 17, 1904, in
Bridgman, Michigan, one of 12 children to Andrew and Hannah (Rach)
Mensinger, and had lived in Mishawaka since 1926.
On December 18, 1926, in Mishawaka, as
Martha Mensinger, she was united in marriage to Charles G.
Anthony. Together they enjoyed 68 years of marriage until his
passing on December 31, 1994. She was also preceded in death by
all of her siblings. Mrs. Anthony is survived by five nieces,
Lois (Obie) Overholser of South Bend, Nancy (Tom) Gorzkiewicz
of Broken Arrow, OK, Leatrice Buck of Peotone, IL,
Lorraine Baginske of Baroda, MI, and Patti Campbell
of Benton Harbor, MI. Also surviving are several great-nieces and
nephews, and their families.
Services for Mrs. Anthony will be held at
11:00 a.m. today, August 16, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral
Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Chaplain Jeff
Arthur of hospice will officiate. Graveside services and burial
will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family
will receive friends one hour prior to services today in the
funeral home.
