Edith I. Apple

June 4, 1923 - June 28, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Edith Irene (Bashore) Apple, 87, of South Bend, passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m. Monday evening in Memorial Hospital. She was born in South Bend to the late Jessie and Irene (Pinckert) Bashore. She was a cab driver for Yellow Cab until she retired at age 65. She married Charles Apple in South Bend, who passed away in 1977. Surviving are her children, Larry (Vicki) Gimson of Granger, Chuck (Shannon) Apple of South Bend, Leroy Apple of South Bend, Pat (Linda) Apple of Niles, MI, Cindy Gimson of South Bend and Tammy (Bill) Hoffer of South Bend. Also surviving are her siblings, Ralph (Peggy) Bashore of Roseland, Howard (Barb) Bashore of Knox, IN, Ruth (Ed) Arenault of South Bend and Loraine (John) Taylor of South Bend; 20 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood at Jefferson, with Pastor Paul Wallace of Body of Christ Ministries officiating. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in eternity with her husband, daughter, Sally Buysse, and two grandchildren.
