Mary Josephine Arch

SOUTH BEND - Services for Mary J. Arch, 81, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, formerly of Taylor Street, who died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday in the nursing home, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in Zahoran Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. by St. Ann Society. Mrs. Arch was a former employee of Studebaker Corp. and was a former self-employed seamstress. She was born March 29, 1914, in Moran, Iowa, and lived in South Bend most of her life.

 

On Sept. 29, 1934, in South Bend, as Mary J. Mamula, she married Charles Arch Sr. He died March 30, 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Toppel of South Bend; a son, Charles Jr. of South Bend; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Millie Montalvo of Homosassa, Fla., and Vera Wells of Okeechobee, Fla.; and a brother, Emil Mamula of South Bend. She was a member of the church and St. Ann Society.
