Edward J. Arndt

Dec. 22, 1926 – Nov. 6, 1993

SOUTH BEND      Edward J. Arndt, 66, of Fox Street, died at 6 a.m. Saturday in his home of an illness.

Mr. Arndt retired from the U.S. Postal service, Chippewa Branch of South Bend, after 32 years of service, and Teachers Credit Union in 1992 from the Microx Department.  He was also employed at University of Notre Dame Joyce Athletic & Convocation Center as a 47 year gate supervisor and usher.

 

He was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident.  On Jan. 27, 1951, in South
Bend, he married Germaine Lochmandy.  She died in July 1993.  Surviving are a son, John E. of South Bend; two sisters, Virginia Hizinski and Rosemary Dlugosz, both of Mishawaka; and a brother, Lawrence of Mishawka.  A grandson, Matthew preceded him in death in July 1993.

 

Mr. Arndt was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral and its choir, Ushers Club, and Holy Name Society; Knights of Columbus Council 5521, Father Neuland General Assembly 4th Degree, National Association of Federal Employees Chapter 145, and American Association of Retired Persons.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church.  Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Guisinger colonial
Chapel Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m.
