MISHAWAKA - Shayla M. Aston, 4, died May 8th at 11:15 a.m. in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on September 16, 2004, in Mishawaka, IN, to Shelly Aston, who survives along with a sister, Shianna Aston at home; four aunts, Linda Peffley, Betty Austin and Gwen Lower, all of Elkhart, and Diane (Bill) Riordan of Montgomery, IL; and an uncle, Kenneth (Deb) Lower of Aurora, IL. A memorial service for Shayla will be held at a later date. Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1521 Cobblestone Boulevard, Elkhart, is assisting the family with arrangements. Shayla loved to sing, dance and play with her friends. She was a wonderful daughter, fantastic sister, and a daredevil who loved to make people laugh. She loved chocolate milk, pizza, Sponge Bob and baby dolls. She will be a guardian angel. As an organ donor, she saved the lives of eight children. She attended the Growing Kids Learning Center.
