Maria Rose Prudente Augustine

Mrs. Rose M. Augusatine, 83, died Friday in the Cardinal Nursing Home after an extended illness. She formerly resided at 901 E. Miner St. She was born April 12, 1888 in Calabria, Italy and had lived in South Bend 53 years coming from New York.

In January, 1910, in Italy, she was married to Vincent J. Augustine, who died in 1957.

Surviving are six sons, Nicholas, Samuel, Dominic, Thomas and Patrick, all of South Bend and John of Manhattan Beach, California, five daughters, Mrs. Josephine Helming of South Bend, Mrs. Catherine Nieson of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Mary Kellam of South San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Frances Gillespe of Kokomo and Mrs. Theresa Harman of Niles, Mich.; 30 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a brother Rocco Simeri of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the McGann Funeral Home, where a prayer service will held be 4 o’clock. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Gurian officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Editor: Her maiden name was Maria Rose Prudente Simeri. She was the daughter of Pasquale Simeri and Maria Guiditta Ursino.
