Carol L. Badders, 64, of Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in her residence. She was born Jan. 27, 1937, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Richard D. Gearhart and Mabel E. Rodgers. She was preceded in death by her father, and by her husband, Robert A. Badders. She is survived by her mother, Mabel E. Gearhart of Granger, Ind.; husband, Ivan "Bud" Smith; children, Rhonda K. (Chris) Atkinson of Mishawaka, Ind., Gregory A. (Lavinia) Badders of Powells Point, N.C.; grandchildren, Jacob Badders, Jeramy Jenks, Noah and Matthew Atkinson; a great-grandchild, Dylan Michael Jenks; a sister, Janet S. (Clifford) Boyer of Mishawaka; a brother, Gerald R. (Brownie) Gearhart of Dallas, Texas; and by many nieces and nephews.

 

Carol was a graduate of Washington Clay High School and lived and worked in Sanford, N.C., before moving back to the area in 1989.

 

Services will be at noon today, Sept. 18, in the Welsheimer North Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. James Conner, pastor of Granger Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park following services. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Carol was a loving daughter, mother and friend to all.
