EX-PLUMBER DIES AT 83

Julius Baeckelandt in Ill Health Six Months

 

Julius Baeckelandt, 83of 801 W 5th St., died at 7am today in his home following an illness of six months.  He had resided here 22 years coming from South Bend.

 

Mr. Baeckelandt was born in Ruyselede, Belgium on January14, 1880.  On July 5, 1941, he married Irma Schiettecatte, who survives.  He was a retired plumber, having been employed by the Kuhn Plumbing Co of South Bend.

Surviving in addition to his widow, are one step-son, Julius C. Maenhout, detective captain on Mishawaka Police force; one granddaughter; two sisters Mrs. Alfons Taelman, of South Bend, and Mary Baeckeland, of Belgium.

 

Friends may call in DeVos Funeral Chapel Tuesday morning.  The rosary will be recited in the chapel at 7:30pm Wednesday.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

FUNERAL NOTES

Funeral rites for Julius Baeckelandt, 83, of 801 W 5th St., who died Monday, will take place at 9am Thursday in the DeVos Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Stephen Cvaniga, of St Bavo’s Church, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 7:30apm Wednesday in the funeral chapel where friends may call.  Pallbearers will be Basiel DeVreese, Cyriel Van De Putte, Achiel Sergeant, William Nieuwlandt, Basiel Van Den Abeele and John Van Tornhout.
