Vernon Berger Baer, 71, of Citrus Springs, Fla., died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, in his home.

Born in South Bend, Ind., on June 30, 1928, to the late Vernon B. and Helen K. Baer, he came here 10 years ago from South Bend. Mr. Baer was the retired manager of Central Hardware of Elkhart, Ind., and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Rich Baer; a son, Darrell W. Baer of Elkhart; a daughter, Kathy Klabusich of Elkhart; a brother, Delmer Baer of Michigan; a sister, Mary Ann Penrose of Plymouth, Ind.; and by two grandchildren.

There will be no services or visitation. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, Fla., handled the arrangements.
