Lester Baker

SOUTH BEND - Lester Baker, 82, of Palisades Avenue, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday in Michiana Community Hospital after an illness. Mr. Baker retired from the University of Notre Dame as a machinist in the Germ-Free Laboratory. He was born May 14, 1912, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

 

He is survived by three nieces, Mary Haslett and Joan Cunningham, both of South Bend, and Catherine Minegar of Osceola; a nephew, Raymond Baker of Hernando, Fla.; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and 16 great-great-nieces and nephews.

 

There will be no services. Cremation will take place, with burial in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
