Andrew G Bakos

October 25, 1906 - September 16, 1918

 Andrew G. Bakos, 74, of 1425 Chester, died at 4:45am today at the Carlyle Nursing Home after an eight month illness.  His daughter, Mrs. Rojean Helvey, died Monday at Memorial Hospital after a two month illness.  Her services will be at 1pm Thursday at the River Park Untied Methodist Church.  Mrs. Helvey’s friends may call from 6 to 9pm today at the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue.

Bakos was retired in 1971 from the Bendix Corp. after 35 years of services. 

Born on October 25, 1906, in Budapest, Hungary, he had lived here since 1908. On August 8, 1933, in South Bend, he married Helen T. Goralski.  She survives along with three granddaughters; a great grandson; and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Meillner of Mishawaka.

Services will be at 11am Saturday at the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue.  Rev. John R. Parks, pastor of the River Park United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Friends may call form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday at the funeral home.  He played semi-professional baseball and basketball in the South Bend area for many years.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St Joseph County Cancer Society.
