Rosie Catherine Balbo

Rosie Catherine Balbo, 91, of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Rosie was born on February 21, 1911 in Leechburg, PA to the late Domenick and Theresa Marie (Fassio) Ravotti. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Mary Odasso and four brothers, Mario, Frank, Domenick and Tony Ravotti.

 

As Rosie Catherine Ravotti, Rose married Louis Balbo. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1975. Two sons, Alfred and John Balbo also preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Mary (Henry) Ugoletti of Fairbanks, IN, a son, Louis (Sue) Balbo of Duncan, S.C., fourteen grandchildren, Domenick (Sandi) Balbo of Middlebury, James (Barbara) Balbo of Camden, MI, Tim (Sandy) Balbo of Grand Rapids, MI, Mark (Mary Ann), Alfred (Cathy) and Frank Balbo, all of Mishawaka, Tom (Barbara) Balbo of Bradenton, FL, Dennis (Marcia) and John Ugoletti of Lewis, IN, Rosemarie (Bob) Metheny of Shelburn, IN, Rico Ugoletti of Prairie Creek, IN, Tina (Mark) Gray of Fairbanks, IN, Kristine (Kris) Wolfe of Salisbury, N.C., and John (Mary Ann) Balbo of Raleigh-Durham, N.C., twenty-one great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, five sisters, Josephine Fazzio, Pearl Cooper, Virginia Chepple and Sadia (Nino) Trunzo, all of Leechburg, PA, and Sr. Mary Dominic of Baden, PA, and two brothers, Pete (Ethel) and Richard Ravotti both of Leechburg, PA.

 

Rosie had worked a number of years as a cook at the former Artusi's Restaurant and the former Florence Café in Mishawaka.

 

She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Mishawaka and the Harvest House. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 29 at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30 at St. Joseph Church with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
