Antonia Baldoni

Mrs. Antonia Baldoni, owner-operator of Baldoni’s Restaurant for 22 years, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday in the Fountainview Nursing Home, Elkhart, after an illness of one month. She was 86.

 

Mrs. Baldoni, 1108 S. Spring, owned the restaurant with her late husband, Romolo Baldoni, from 1933 to 1955.

 

Mrs. Baldoni was born on Jan. 17, 1888, in Macerone, Italy, at the province of Flori and had resided in Mishawaka since 1920, coming here from Italy.

 

As Antonia Salvadori she was married to Mr. Baldoni in Macerone on April 24, 1909. He died Jan 11, 1950.

 

Surviving are a son Edward, of Mishawaka; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Mercantini, Mrs. George Baldini, Mrs. Fred Garatoni, Mrs. Joseph Scheibelhut and Miss Clara Baldoni, all of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

 

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Sunday in the DeVos Funeral Chapel where arrangements are being completed.

 

Mrs. Baldoni was a member of St. Bavo’s Parish and the Ladies Auxiliary to the DeAmicis Club.

Funeral services for Mrs. Antonia Baldoni, 86, of 1108 S. Spring St., who died Friday following an illness of one month, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bavo’s Church, with Rev. Steven Cvaniga, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

 

A rosary  will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the DeVos Funeral Chapel, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today, and all day Monday, until the service Tuesday.
