Lucille M. Baldoni

April 24, 1923 - April 27, 2002

Lucille M. Baldoni, 79, of Spring Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, April 27, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

Lucille was born on April 24, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., to Josephine and Frank Nowak. On July 24, 1943, in Camp Haan, Riverside, Calif., she married Libero A. "Lab" Baldoni. He died on Oct. 12, 2000. One of 11 children, Mrs. Baldoni was also preceded in death by six siblings, Alice Strozewski, Esther Anda, Pauline Williams, Raymond, Robert and Louis Nowak.

Mrs. Baldoni was a volunteer "Pink Lady" at Saint Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka, was a member of the DeAmicis Women's Auxiliary and a past member of the Mishawaka Democratic Women's Club.

Mrs. Baldoni is survived by three daughters, Jimita (Phil) Potter of Granger, Ind., Barbara (Geoffrey Gavett) Baldoni of Olney, Md., and Mary (Craig) Nowicki of Granger; and two sons, Judge Paul (Deborah) Baldoni of LaPorte, Ind., and Mitchell (Debra) Baldoni of San Antonio, Texas. Known to her grandchildren as "Nonna," Mrs. Baldoni is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Nicholas Baldoni, Elizabeth (Scott) Schreeg, Vanessa Baldoni, Anthony Baldoni, Chelsea Baldoni, Jaclyn Potter, Julia Potter, Annie Gavett, William Gavett, Joey Nowicki, Eric Nowicki and Cole Nowicki.

She is also survived by three sisters, Camille (Herb) Martindale of Syracuse, Ind., Henrietta Janowski of South Bend and Patricia DeMarco of New Carlisle, Ind.; a brother, Francis J. Nowak of South Bend; and by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis and Elsie Baldoni of Mishawaka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, in St. Bavo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bavo Church Building Fund or to the American Lung Association.

Lucille will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law and friend. She will be missed for all the loving care that she gave to all those around her, especially the loving attention and care that she gave to her 12 grandchildren.
