Helen K. Balough

Helen K. Balough, 88, of South Main Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, in Cardinal Nursing Home. Mrs. Balough was born on April 16, 1912, to the late John and Elizabeth (Horvath) Klebusits in South Bend.

 

On Jan. 16, 1937, she married Louis Balough in South Bend. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carla Steigmayer in November 1998.

 

She was a lifetime area resident. Helen worked for the Dutron Corporation and retired in 1977 after 23 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church and also the St. Ann Society, Sacred Heart and Rosary Society, and Harvest House of the church.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Steigmayer of Southfield, Mich., and Christine Barker of South Bend; two granddaughters, Jamie (Bill) Moore of Tecumseh, Mich., and Audra (Dave) Yeo of Anchorage, Alaska; four great-grandchildren, Colten and Trevor Moore, and Evan and Jonathan Yeo; and by a sister, Elizabeth Pollins of South Bend.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 15, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungry Catholic Church Repair Fund.
