Services for Brother David Baltrinic CSC, 46, of Notre Dame, who died at 6 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness, will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Chapel, Holy Cross Brothers Center. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at the Brothers Center. Wake services will be at Columba Hall from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday and after 6 p.m. at Holy Cross Brothers Center, where a wake also will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

 

He was born Jan. 21, 1939 in Empire, Ohio. He entered the Brothers of Holy Cross in Oct. 1958; made his novitiate at Rolling Prairie, Ind.; and made his first profession of vows on Jan. 26, 1960. He is survived by four brothers and six sisters, all of Ohio. After receiving his bachelors degree from the University of Notre Dame, he obtained additional degrees from Notre Dame and Loyola University in Chicago. From 1963 to 1978 he was a teacher and principal (1969 to 1970) at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, Ohio. For two years he served as a member of the Campus Renewal Team for colleges in Indiana and he was involved with several student groups; the Right to Life Organization; and the World Hunger Coalition. He was appointed director of the Holy Cross Brothers Vocation Office for the Midwest Province in the summer of 1981, and held that office until 1985.
