Palmina Bamber

March 23, 1920 - Jan. 28, 1997

Palmina Bamber, 76, of Wall Street, South Bend, Ind., died on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in South Bend.

Mrs. Bamber was born to Virgil Colella and Nancy LaPresto on March 23, 1920, in South Bend, and lived here all her life. On Aug. 19, 1939, she married John Bamber in Mishawaka, Ind., who survives.

Palmina is also survived by a daughter, Nancy Hague of Carmel, Ind.; two sons, John, Jr., and Eugene Bamber of South Bend. She was a grandmother to nine children and had two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Sausman of Mishawaka, and by a brother, Leonard Colella of Plant City, Fla.

She was self-employed and co-founder of the family-owned Bamber Superette Grocery Store in South Bend. Mrs. Bamber was a member of St. Anthony De Padua Church of South Bend.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Medical Center Coronary Care Unit, South Bend.
