Ruth R. Banfi, age 81, residing on Darden Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was born Jan. 28, 1923, in South Bend, as the daughter of Oscar Henry and Ida Rose (Boker) Banfi, and has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend. For many years, she was employed with the family business, Banfi's Food Market on Miami Street, South Bend. She was a 1941 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, and a member of Christian Center Cathedral of Praise. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed gardening.

 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rose Banfi; and two brothers, Walter and Edward Banfi. Surviving Ruth is a brother, William A. (Bill) Banfi of Elkhart; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Pastors Lowell & Patricia Hutsell will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth R.
